NUKEGARA は、一日の終わりにその日着ていた服を脱ぎ、写真に収めるという作品です。服を脱ぐという日常的な行為を、人は無造作に行いそこに意味を問うことはありません。しかし私は、この些細なルーティンの結果乱雑に脱ぎ捨てられた衣服に対して、まるで脱皮した生き物の抜け殻のような悲しさを覚えるとともに、自身が存在していたことを証明する痕跡のような温かみを感じます。
本作品では、痕跡としての脱ぎ捨てられた服ではなく、服を脱ぐという行為そのものに着目しています。服を脱ぎ捨てるという行為を過去の自分を捨て去り、新しい自分に生まれ変わる一種の儀式のような行為と捉え作品化しました。
誰もが体験したことのある服を脱ぐという光景の中に、「自分が進化する瞬間」が映し出されると信じています。
NUKEGARA is an artwork in which, at the end of the day, I take off the clothes I wear that day and photograph them.
People perform this daily act without thinking and never question the meaning behind it.The clothes taken off messily as a result of this trivial routine look like the exuviae and make me feel sad. At the same time, however, they give me the proof that the one was alive and make me feel warm.
In this work, the focus is not on the clothes as traces, but on the act of taking them off itself. I see the act as a kind of ritual to leave the past behind and be reborn as a new person.
I believe that the “moment of one’s evolution” is reflected in the spectacle of taking off clothes which we have all experienced.
